Must Try Black Woman Owned Makeup Brands For Melanated Skin!

Black Women's skin is unique because our melanin comes in a variety of beautifully pigmented shades.

Our melanin not only absorbs the sun's harmful ultraviolet rays to protect our skin from sun damage, but it also protects us from premature skin aging while preventing wrinkles. This allows our skin to maintain its youthful appearance for much longer, despite our age.

While uniquely beautiful, it's not always easy to find a quality make up brand that complements our variety of complexions.

There are make up brands on the market with shades for Black Women, but they don't always have hues that match all of our complexions, partially because they are not all created by Black Women.

Never fear though. They DO exist, and we will share them with you!

3 of our favorite Black Woman Owned make up brands are:

Pat McGrath Labs
Pat McGrath is hailed as "the most influential make-up artist in the world". She has since the 1990's provided services to the beauty and fashion industry to the British Empire, to couture shows in Milan, Paris, London, & New York, as well as to luxury designers such as the Gucci & Giorgio Armani collections of cosmetics that she created and designed. As the global beauty creative design director for Proctor & Gamble, she created her own line of cosmetics including (but not limited to) foundations, powders, concealers and more, that match a full spectrum of our uniquely beauty complexions.
